Apple I-Phone 5 “Lightning to USB Cable” (Charger Cable) Failing Prematurely Under Investigation says NYC law firm.

Apple I-Phone 5 “Lightning to USB Cable” (Charger Cable) Failing Prematurely Under Investigation May 6, 2014
Seeger Weiss is investigating claims for a class action suit against Apple for I-Phone 5 charger cables that fail prematurely. The cables fail only a few months after purchase, and the consumer is left to front the bill for a new cable which costs $20-$40 and is also prone to failure. When Apple launched the much-anticipated I-Phone 5, the company also released a new charger cable, thereby rending the older I-Phone charger cable incompatible with the new I-Phone 5. Since then, consumers have voiced their frustration with the new cable. The Apple charger cable is known as a “Lightning to USB Cable.” The cable plugs into the I-phone 5 and charges the phone through a wall outlet or a USB port on a computer. However, after only a few months of use, many users have reported that the cable stops working and fails to charge the phone. The only solution is to purchase a new cable, which costs $20-$40. Consumers have reported failures of the replacement cables, as well. To make matters worse, Apple has refused to acknowledge a problem with the I-Phone 5’s “Lightning to USB Cable” nor have they issued a recall on the product. I hate companies that won't answer their phones ! I left a message asking what the status of this potential lawsuit is. ********* ALL of the connector cables for my 2 Iphones, the Ipad air have failed. Near the end of the cable the rubber will develop a crimp and even when not in use, eventually it exposes the wiring and will no longer charge nor will it transmit data and if you get a replacement, those cables either won't work or start displaying the same defects. I took my frayed cable down to the Walnut Creek Apple store last week & the gave me a " new " one and its screwing up too. Example shown below. It is the cable that came with my Ipad purchased in April 2014.

  1. Why in the world they forgot to quality check each one of their USB lightning connector? is it because they've poured all their efforts on the smartphone alone?
